August is the absolute hottest month in South Padre Island as temperatures climb up to 90°F. Also, the Gulf of Mexico has reached its’ warmest water temperature of 84°F. Even during nights temperatures do not drop below 79°F. August is also still a dry month - good to know in case you are indecisive as to whether to book the trip for August or the following month as it will be quite rainy in September. In August, the days are still very long (13hours). One thing to be aware of is the hurricane season, which rarely hits South Padre Island but the slight risk is there.
South Padre Island is now the

Weatherwise, given South Padre Island’s location in the subtropics we can recommend taking a trip there any time of the year. The months between September and February might be the most pleasant. The months from June to September are nice and hot. During that time there is a slight chance of hurricanes. In September, expect to have some rain as that is the rainy month on South Padre Island.
Winters are mild and the pleasant temperatures almost always allow you to rely on only summer clothes during the day. In winter it can get a bit cooler during the night - so do bring a light jacket if you are travelling at that time of the year.

And you won’t get thirsty either with many bars around. Of course, it’s mainly the weather and the beach which is why spring breakers love to come here in March and April - but having one or two bars on offer might not do any harm either!
