Miami Weather

Averages By Month

Wherever and whenever you are in the vast area of Miami, you can be sure that the weather will feel very warm indeed if not too hot over the summer, when it can reach highs of 90°F! Given its tropical location, the year round temperature in Miami rarely drops below 70°F during the day and it’s an absolutely perfect beach vacation destination at any time of the year.

The Atlantic Ocean has pleasant swimming temperatures all year round and the water doesn’t get cooler than 73°F, even in winter. Where the winter months are usually drier, you can expect rain in summer with a high of up to 18 rainy days in September. It is the humidity that, especially in summer, can make it feel a little sticky.

Things to know about Miami

Miami is a vast city spread out over several very distinct areas. Miami itself, officially the City of Miami, lies mostly on the mainland of Florida and covers the districts of Wynwood and Little Haiti to the north and Coconut Grove to the south with the impressive Downtown Miami skyline at the heart of it.

Miami is often thought to include the world famous South Beach although technically South Beach is a neighborhood within the separate city of Miami Beach. Miami Beach lies on a one mile by nine mile island about three miles offshore from the city of Miami.

The wider Miami metropolitan area has a population of 6.1 million and stretches all the way north to include the cities of West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale.

Downtown Miami is where the world of finance is and where you should go to see all the skyscrapers. The Adrienne Arsht Center is also located in Downtown and that’s where you can go to watch all sorts of Performing Art. Bayside Marketplace is a hip place to be and in the port you will find lots of restaurants and bars. In the American Airlines Arena you can watch the Miami Heat of the NBA in action.

Wherever you are in the Miami area you will enjoy some lively Latin American flair combined with lots of sun and fun. In the hip Wynwood Art District you won’t be able to stop browsing through all the genius art galleries and you will be able to see some of the world’s greatest graffiti art.

Little Havana is the place to experience some Cuban lifestyle in Miami. It’s where many Cubans settled after fleeing Fidel Castro’s regime in the 50s.

The area of Coral Gables is where you have to go if you want to see the Venetian Pool. Just admire the beauty of the building or have a bath too - you might also spot some stars!

In the Miami area you will also find some of the greatest malls and if you are after some exploring you should take a trip to the Everglades to admire the nature or take a trip to Key West.

And last but not least when in Miami you must certainly visit Miami Beach with its’ world famous South Beach. That’s where you will see all the beautiful beaches that Miami is famous for. South Beach, with its’ world heritage Art Deco District and Ocean Drive, is where everyone heads to to be seen and as a result you will find many visitors there. North Beach is where the locals like to hang out more. South Beach is also called the ‘Hollywood of Latin America’. It’s such an incredible place with so much happiness, fun and of course parties. And if you are into partying don’t miss checking out the great clubs such as LIV or Mynt Lounge.
